During our time in Uruguay, there have been countless times we’ve taken buses.
Other than public bus transportation to get around Montevideo, we’ve taken buses from Tres Cruces bus terminal in Montevideo for short trips to Punta del Este, Colonia del Sacramento, and Florida Uruguay.
Tres Cruces bus terminal is actually in a mall. To buy tickets and wait for the buses, you go into the mall and down the escalators to the terminal. There is no WiFi in the terminal however I was pleasantly surprised to find that many of the bus lines have internet available on their buses!
The bus company that has WiFi on all their buses is called Copsa. Here’s a tip: If you go outside to wait for your bus instead of sitting inside on the seats, you can get internet because all the Copsa buses are waiting outside in that area. Their networks aren’t password protected so you can use them for free.
Here is a Vine video showing the Tres Cruces bus terminal in 6 seconds:
And our bus to Colonia del Sacramento strangely looked just like a plane!
For the most part, the buses are comfortable and the bus rides we took weren’t too long because Uruguay isn’t a big country.
