It’s now to explore the North Island! After a every-day-a-different-city tour of South Island, we’ve been based in Auckland and are taking a trip with friends and family.
We left early- before seven am and took three hours to drive to Waitomo. This is where the famous glow worms caves are.
I’ve seen pictures of those natural bright blue lights made by bugs in caves on Pinterest and thought it wasn’t real until I saw it with my own eyes. You can’t take pictures inside, but this is the boat we took through the Waitomo glow worms caves of New Zealand! (Picture above.)
Then on the way to Rotorua (which took another hour or so), we stopped by Lake Tikitapu aka Blue Lake. There’s also the neighboring Green Lake and from this lookout point, you can really tell that they’re two different colors!
