A vacation is one thing. Long term traveling is a completely different ball game. I learned this to be true when we started our RTW (round the world) trip.
There are pros and cons for long term traveling. Whether you like it or not, the unexpected happens and you may find you just aren’t able to do the exact things you planned on doing.
This is a perfect example. While in Uruguay a few months ago, I wrote this post about going to a Rolando Paz concert and never hit publish. So here it is…
On the last day of Spanish classes, we attended the school’s extracurricular activity which was to hear some Uruguayan music. We would do this by listening to Uruguayan singer, Rolando Paz, who I’d never heard of before the concert. His music has a tropical sound to it which reminded me of some performers I’ve seen around the port of St. Maarten and other Caribbean islands.
If you’re interested, you can listen to one of his songs:
It seemed like most of the audience knew his music, as a few of them were dancing right in front of the stage and others were clapping and moving to the beats. I only picked up a few words, since he sung in Spanish.
Whether you wanted to dance or not, by the end of the concert, Rolando Paz had successfully invited (or dragged) everyone to the front. It was an enjoyable moment, being with locals and connecting through music.
This is a picture of me and Silvana, who worked with the Spanish school. Her job was to bring students on the extracurricular activities that the school provided.
And of course we had to get a picture with Rolando Paz.
