We spent a week in the city of Puerto Varas. Every restaurant we went to was worth going to again and all were recommended to us by locals.
One restaurant we went to is called Cafe Mamusia. When you first walk in, they have a counter that sells chocolate and another with kuchen (German word for cake). There’s a lot of German influence in Puerto Varas which is why they use the word kuchen.
On the right side of the store is a cafe which is where we had lunch. The local that recommended the cafe told us to try Pichanga, a Chilean dish.
Here’s a video showing the cafe and what’s inside the Pichanga dish.
The Pichanga was 9,500 Chilean pesos which is about $21.
