Bariloche is known as Argentina’s chocolate capital and it’s pretty obvious once you arrive in the city center. But there’s more than just chocolate. Known as a destination for skiing and other winter sports, the city of Bariloche is located in Argentina’s Lake District and northern Patagonia region at the south of the Nahuel Huapi Lake.
We didn’t go skiing since it was early fall but we discovered the famous Llao Llao Hotel and Resort. First off, how to pronounce the name? Spanish spoken in Argentina and also Uruguay is different from the other South American Spanish speaking countries. One distinct difference is the pronunciation of the double L. It’s pronounced like sh. So Llao Llao is pronounced like shao shao.
The hotel’s entrance begins at the bottom of a hill. We walked up and enjoyed the view of the hotel’s beautiful 18 hole golf course.
Flowers and plants like lavender were planted along the sidewalk.
You can even see snow capped mountains!
And at the top, is the hotel.
If you don’t have time to stay at the Llao Llao Hotel and Resort, at least try to make some time for lunch at Llao Llao’s Winter Garden restaurant. It’s worth just going to check out the view from the scenic windows.
Just outside the restaurant…
