Earlier, I wrote an article about Instagram, which is a photo sharing app that you could only use on an iPhone or Android. The article was titled “3 ways to view Instagram photos on the web”.
Because Instagram is an app, you couldn’t view your photos online through Instagram’s website, though there were some ways to view photos with websites like Webstagram and Statigram.
However just 2 days ago, Instagram announced Instagram Web Profiles!
Here are the features of the new Instagram web profiles:
• View all your shared photos
• Follow other users
• Edit your profile
• Comment on photos
• Like other user’s photos
• Header photo (one of my favorite new features! This header photo is similar to your Facebook cover photo except it features a few of your Instagram photos and rotates every couple of seconds.)
To see your profile, just type instagram.com/username. If you don’t see your profile yet, don’t worry! On Instagram’s blog, they stated that if you don’t see your profile yet, Instagram is rolling out profiles to everyone over the course of this week.
Things you cannot do with the new Instagram web profiles are changing your profile picture and uploading pictures. Currently you can only upload photos through the app. Instagram’s blog states that’s because they are “focused on the production of photos from mobile devices.” Maybe that will change.
What do you think of the new Instagram web profiles? You can follow me on Instagram! Here’s my web profile: http://instagram.com/bethanylooi
