It’s Good Friday and here in Cuenca students get the day off. I think Easter is a pretty big deal in South America. I remember in my school in Florida taking Good Friday off was optional. (Obviously the majority took the opportunity haha)
Since students don’t have school, I also got the morning off from volunteering at the school. For the first time since I got here, I actually had some time to myself where I wrote a few articles I’ve been meaning to write.
Meanwhile, I shared some pictures on Instagram of things I’ll miss because I only have a few days left here in Cuenca!
I’ve taken lots of pictures of these vendors. They’re from a city north of Cuenca called Otovalo, where there’s a famous market to sell hand made goods (I was there a year and a half ago). But I finally bought something from a vendor here in Cuenca! (pic above)
Things I’ll miss in Cuenca Ecuador.
Number One: Weekly trips to the countryside!
Number Two: The cathedral with the blue domes.
Number 3: Fresh fruits, organic food and visits to the market.
More to come in the next few days before I leave.
Later in the evening, the church had a Good Friday event where I participated in a drama. It was a small part where I pretty much was a man and then later a woman. There were just eight of us in it.
