After eating lunch (two slices of pizza at Artichoke Basille’s Pizza in the East Village), I needed to walk. The popular artichoke pizza made with artichoke hearts, spinach, cream sauce, mozzarella and Pecorino Romano cheese was filling. I felt like I could start walking the entire length of Manhattan!
After leaving the restaurant and letting others who were waiting outside in the cold finally sit (there are only six tables!), we started to walk. We didn’t walk anywhere near the entire length of Manhattan, but we did end up at Flatiron Plaza.
This plaza is located at the intersection of Broadway, 5th Avenue and 22nd Street. And most importantly, it’s where you can see the iconic Flatiron building then turn around 180 degrees and see the Empire State Building!
There’s a sign advertising free WiFi, though I didn’t test it out for myself. It was too cold so we were just there for a quick picture stop.
Here’s the popular artichoke pizza. Artichoke Basille’s Pizza is located at 328 East 14th Street. They also have two other locations in New York City, one in Chelsea and the other in Greenwich Village.
From Flatiron Plaza, here’s the Flatiron Building! Built in 1902, it was once one of the tallest buildings in New York City and has a unique triangular shape. It’s currently being used as an office building but there has been talk about it becoming a luxury hotel.
Right across from the Flatiron Building is the Empire State Building! From the Flatiron Plaza, the Empire State Building peaks out just a little behind other buildings.
And here’s a Vine video showing both iconic buildings of New York City:
Next time you’re in New York City, be sure to take a quick picture stop at Flatiron Plaza New York City.
