I didn’t see anyone my age or younger kids. There were mostly business people dressed in suits and ties. Some were reading newspapers while others were in deep discussions with what looked like their colleagues. They may have been on a working trip, but I was on vacation, so no business discussion at our breakfast table at Elena restaurant in Four Seasons Buenos Aires.
Elena restaurant is the same restaurant that I had my birthday dinner in and also the restaurant for breakfast when staying at Four Seasons Buenos Aires. Breakfast is from 6:30 am to 11 am.
Though they serve the usual breakfast items (eggs, bacon, fruits, etc.) the fun part is when the Four Seasons adds a local touch to the selection. In Buenos Aires, examples of local items included mermelada de membrillo or quince marmalade and of course mermelada de zapallo which I had already tried in Uruguay. They can also prepare mate for you!
Someone came up and asked my brother and I if we needed help, in Spanish. I stared blankly at him for a few seconds (Four Seasons Buenos Aires was my English haven since we’d been traveling for 3 months with just Spanish everywhere) then before I had a chance to respond (I did hear him say ayudar or help in Spanish), he repeated himself in English.
The cold meats and cheese section:
I loved the way they put the donuts and other baked goods in these wooden boxes:

And now for the highlight of breakfast!! Dulce de leche waffles.
Dulce de leche would fall under the category of local items. It’s extremely popular in South America, particularly Uruguay and Argentina. And it is delicious on waffles with a ton of powdered sugar!
Four Seasons posted a photo on their Instagram account a few weeks after I visited asking people to tag their photos with #FSFotogbreakfast and that they’d reblog their favorites. So I added the hashtag to my dulce de leche photo. One day while scrolling through my Instagram feed, I saw they picked my photo along with some others!
